Just as technology businesses were booming, so was the firm’s ability to deliver complex, high-tech projects, largely due to the firm’s own innovative processes and technologies in place.
Mission-critical environments were ever-increasing with the BellSouth Network Reliability Centers in Charlotte and Nashville, Duke Energy Customer Service Center in Charlotte, and NC Department of Revenue Building in Raleigh. The decade drew to a close with the firm expanding across the South and into the Midwest, converting buildings into telecommunications switch sites for 360networks, Pacer International, Qwest Communications and other industry leaders.
Over the next two decades, the firm’s veteran staff of security designers responded to a great demand for jails and prisons across North Carolina. Projects ranged from work farms for the Department of Correction to the 500-bed medium-security Albemarle Correctional Center and nearly a dozen jails for counties across the state, including Buncombe, Gaston, Mecklenburg, Union and Warren. The Rowan County Justice Center brought together historic buildings and modern jail, law enforcement and court facilities. Work with municipalities was equally as strong for Civil Engineering as they continued to provide ongoing civil and environmental design services for Gastonia, Lincolnton and surrounding counties.
