City of Kannapolis
The 30,000 SF Public Works Operations Center serves the City of Kannapolis Water and Streets Maintenance Departments. Design, functional needs analysis, programming and budgeting were provided.
The Operations Center houses 11,000 SF of office space, 19,000 SF of warehouse and shop space, and includes covered parking to accommodate 70 service vehicles.
The T-shaped design of the facility zones the offices for the two departments on either side of centrally-shared spaces, including a front lobby, conference room, meeting/ready room and break room. The office block is joined to the warehouse/shops by a rear lobby and hallways, which provide interior access to the shops and warehouse. The site and building design accommodate vehicular flow and access.
