UNC Pembroke’s Auxiliary Services Building is the cornerstone of campus activity, providing inviting spaces for students to meet, browse, read, or enjoy a cup of coffee.
The 2-story, 45,000 SF building houses facilities to serve the bookstore, student ID card program, printing and copying, central stores, purchasing, campus mail and campus police. A warehouse space for surplus storage is also included.
The two-story structure includes 45,000 SF in area, including 8,000 SF of upfit space in the existing Facilities Planning building, which is primarily used for surplus storage and printing. The 12,600 SF bookstore/retail area is an open, two-story space with natural light provided by clerestory windows. The campus police and public safety department is self-contained with its own entrance and street presence. A service courtyard provides an area for mechanical equipment and utilities, parking for electric-powered vehicles and access to a two-bay elevated loading dock.
The building provides efficient functioning of the various departments, especially at critical times when course textbooks and ID cards are issued. There is an outdoor terrace which links to a pedestrian area between the building and a new addition to the adjacent athletic facility.
